Recycled Sartor is the 6th Environment Minister in less than 3 years

"Frank Sartor's appointment as Environment Minister makes him the SIXTH Minister to hold the portfolio in less than three years," Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Catherine Cusack said today.

"The only recycling policy this discredited Labor Government seems to have is at a Ministerial level – and that is of absolutely no use to the environment," Ms Cusack said.

"There is no sustainability policy beyond churning through an environment Ministers every 5 to 6 months. It is an insult to stakeholders and shows complete disregard for the very complex and serious challenges we face in terms of polluted air and waterways; record levels of waste entering landfill; and increasing number of species of native wildlife threatened with extinction," Ms Cusack said.

"New South Wales still lacks the energy efficiency policies to tackle our high dependence on coal fired power stations. The only energy policy seems to be "energy out", as Labor lies down on the job.”

"The $1 billion environment portfolio is being passed around the circle of Labor mates, like a game of "pass the parcel" at a child's birthday party.”

"Mr Sartor's may think the environment is a booby prize after missing out on the Premiership. But Mr Sartor himself is the biggest booby prize of all for the Environment. His credentials for such a role were trashed during his notorious term in the planning portfolio where developers were given the green light to ride roughshod over environmental considerations.

" Today's Cabinet demonstrates a lack of care for the Environment on the part of our new Premier - sadly the instability and internal turmoil is set to continue under Mr Sartor," Ms Cusack said.
